For Being Part of the Community and Volunteering

Make a difference for Colombia’s communities and ecosystems.

We deeply understand the driving motivations of our travelers. The fusion of travel and philanthropy is a harmonious partnership, and we collaborate with a diverse array of initiatives tailored to each guest’s specific interests.

Whether it’s education, wildlife preservation, reforestation, or support for small agricultural communities, our aim is not merely to showcase the beauty of our country but also to enhance it through our actions.

In addition to aligning travelers with philanthropic projects, we also offer a spectrum of involvement levels. From visiting project headquarters to engaging in hands-on experiences alongside local teams, our guests have a broad spectrum of opportunities to make a meaningful impact on Colombia’s communities and ecosystems.

Please note the following important information for your volunteering:

  1. Respect Local Customs and Norms: Always respect the local customs, traditions, and social norms of the community you are engaging with. Be open to learning and adapting to their way of life.

  2. Cultural Sensitivity: Exercise cultural sensitivity in your interactions. Avoid making assumptions and seek to understand the local culture before engaging.

  3. Listen and Learn: Be a good listener. Take the time to learn from community members and understand their needs and perspectives.

  4. Follow Instructions: If you are working with a local organization or project, follow their instructions and guidelines closely. They know what is most helpful for their community.

  5. Mindful Communication: Communicate clearly and respectfully. If you don’t speak the local language, use gestures and non-verbal cues to convey your intentions.

  6. Hands-On Help: Be prepared to engage in hands-on activities and contribute actively to the project. Your willingness to work alongside locals can be impactful.

  7. Humility: Approach your volunteering with humility. Understand that you are there to support, not to impose your ideas or solutions.

  8. Ask Permission: Seek permission before taking photos or recording videos, especially if it involves community members. Respect their privacy and dignity.

  9. Responsible Giving: If you plan to bring gifts or donations, coordinate with local organizations to ensure they are appropriate and distributed effectively.

  10. Long-Term Commitment: If possible, consider longer-term commitments rather than one-time visits. Sustainable change often requires ongoing support.

  11. Health and Safety: Prioritize your health and safety, and follow any safety guidelines provided by the organization you are working with.

  12. Responsible Tourism: Be mindful of your environmental impact, such as waste disposal and conservation efforts, to protect the local ecosystem.

  13. Reflect on Impact: Take time to reflect on the impact of your volunteering efforts and consider how you can continue to support the community even after your visit.

  1. Appropriate Clothing: Pack clothing suitable for the local climate and cultural norms. Modesty and comfort are often key. You may need durable clothing for hands-on work.

  2. Comfortable Footwear: Sturdy, comfortable shoes or boots suitable for the type of work you’ll be doing.

  3. Water Bottle: Stay hydrated during your activities. A reusable water bottle is eco-friendly and practical.

  4. Sun Protection: Sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from sun exposure.

  5. Insect Repellent: In some regions, insect repellent is essential for comfort and health.

  6. Basic First Aid Kit: A small first aid kit with essentials like bandages, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers.
